Committee Nominations:
Nominations have now closed for the 2022 Gifted WA Committee. A new committee will be voted for at the AGM.
Please be aware that our Constitution does stipulate the make-up of the Committee, so this needs to be considered when selecting committee members. This criteria can be found on Page V of the Gifted WA Constitution (section 10:1B). The Gifted WA Committee has an online meeting once a month, so members in both metro and regional areas of WA are welcome to nominate. Members who nominate and are not selected for the Committee are encouraged to participate in the running of Gifted WA through our sub-committees.
* Gifted WA Committee consists of the following positions:
(a) a Chairperson
(b) a Vice-Chairperson
(c) a Secretary
(d) a Treasurer
(e) General Committee Members (5)
The AGM will be preceded by the Dr Kate Burton's presentation that will commence at 5:45pm.
Gifted and twice-exceptional children are 'wired differently'. This welcoming and informative event will explain the reasons behind the behavioural challenges that neurodiverse children often experience, both in the classroom and at home. Whether they are riddled with anxiety or display outward defiance or aggression, this talk will provide an overview of how neurodiverse children experience the world and the implications of this on their emotional regulation and learning. We'll then look at practical strategies that can be implemented so you'll feel more empowered to respond effectively to your child and the world that overwhelms them.
Kind regards,
Melissa Morrison
Gifted WA Secretary
